Seeking enlightenment.

Silver Blue here (duh, right? Who’d you expect, Roxette Bunny™?) with series of questions:

1. If you meditate, do you use music, and if so, which artist/album do you recommend?

2. Do you have an preferred reading material when it comes to enlightenment? (I’m steering clear of the traditional Christian Theology at this point — I’ve had 38 years of it. Something tells me there is more than just the unreconcilable God of War and the God of Love.)

3. Recommended authors?

4. Your experiences?

Leave me a comment, or shoot me an email.

When I meditate, I prefer silence and focus on my breathing. I count my breaths – in and out = 1 count – and try to keep my mind clear. I have used music before though, I’ve found that native american flute music, traditional drums (Neil Pert from Rush is NOT good drum music for meditation!), and asian monastic music usually works. Occasionally Enya or other New Age types, but usuallly I steer clear of that.

As for authors, Brad Warner is the best one I’ve come across in a long time. He has two books out: “Hardcore Zen” and “Sit Down and Shut Up.” Both are great, but I would read the first before going on to the second.

Hope this helps. Drop me a line and let me know how you’re doing, okay? Great to see you’re still blogging; hope you work it the way you want it to go.
