A Taste of Today

I’m no chef — even though I LOVE to eat, and I love to cook. It’s not easy, especially with trying to stay healthy and stay on my weight loss routine.

My greatest fear is ending up like the Queen Latifah character in “Last Holiday” — where she would make photo worthy dishes and items (and photograph them, she would) and then toss them away because she was trying to lose weight.

I know the best things in life can be enjoyed through portions and wise choices. Still, when you eat out (or should I say, when *I* eat out) there are certain things that really taste good.

One of them comes from a restaurant known for its seafood — Red Lobster. They make a cheese biscuit that is simply to dream about.

It’s not that difficult to make, either.

2 c. Bisquick
2/3 c. milk
1/2 c. shredded cheddar cheese
1/4 c. butter
1/4 tsp. garlic powder

Mix Bisquick and cheese; add milk. Spoon on an ungreased cookie sheet (makes about 12). Bake at 425 degrees for 8-10 minutes. Brush with melted butter and garlic powder.

My problem? I can eat these by the basketful when they are brought to the table. As you can figure, these are NOT low-fat, healthy, or even… suggested to eat on a regular basis.

In fact, there’s only one thing that could make these even better. Thinly sliced salty country ham between a hot biscuit. A cup of hot coffee on the side.

Yum. Oh.
