Ok, what am I missing?

There’s obviously a brouhaha on Capital Hill.

Because Angry lawmakers demand FBI return seized documents: Search of congressman’s office unconstitutional, they say

Uh, excuse me.

Wait one DAMN minute.

You’re telling me that you’re above the law?

Lawmakers predict a long dispute over the FBI’s search of Jefferson’s office last weekend. Historians say it was the first raid of a representative’s quarters in Congress’ 219 years.

OK, so there’s been no precedent for it. But does that mean that a member of Congress can commit a crime, and as long as they hide the evidence in their quarters that nothing can be done about it because it was an “abuse of power”?

FBI agents searched Jefferson’s office in pursuit of evidence in a bribery investigation. The search warrant, signed by U.S. District Court Judge Thomas Hogan, was based on an affidavit that said agents found $90,000 in cash wrapped and stashed in the freezer of Jefferson’s home. . . . Justice Department officials said the decision to search Jefferson’s office was made in part because he refused to comply with a subpoena for documents last summer. Jefferson reported the subpoena to the House on September 15, 2005.”

Here’s what I’m not understanding: You’re telling me that the FBI HAD A PROPER SEARCH WARRANT (which, unlike the bullshit that Bush has been doing with illegal wiretapping, etc. etc. etc.) and this individual had refused to comply with previous legal subpoenas, that everyone is now crying foul?

Excuse me, but:

The entire feeling I take away from this load of horsecrap is that it’s OK to be subversive in your dealings. Do things by the book, legally, and woe be unto you.

Makes no difference if your Demo or Repub. Male or Female. You break the law, you suffer the consequences. At least the proper procedures were followed THIS time.

I guess with all the lies that President Shrub has been telling in D.C., people have forgotten what the TRUTH actually is.

I had a passing thought yesterday: For those who have read George Orwell’s 1984, the current stream of misinformation that is being issued from inside the beltway is much like the “Ministry of Truth,” which had to go and rewrite history regarding how many jobs were created, bootlaces made, etc. when in actuality, none of it actually occurred.

Every day we hear more and more BS about how the economy is picking up, jobs are being created (excuse me, but for the number of “quality” jobs that are being outsourced to other countries, if it is indeed true that new jobs are being created, they are at a MUCH less compensated level — after all, all the high-level jobs are no longer on American soil), how we’re winning this war in the Middle East (which was started on lies).

What should we do? First off, finish the job we started in the Middle East. Complete the mission. Then bring our men and women home.

Get rid of the rot in Washington. If it means firing every legislator, judge and member of the executive branch and starting from scratch, then fine. They scream about “moral standards” when talking about gay marriage. I scream about “moral standards” when it comes to pork barrel spending, extortion, lobbying, campaign finance reform, and embezzlement. Get rid of the “absolute power” that Bush claims to have in “times of war”.

If I hear one more damn time that “we want the Courts to dismiss this case because it can endanger citizens and National Security during times of war” I do believe I will go postal.

To act in such a manner simply implies that you think you are above the law, and are beyond reproach. Guess what? Hitler’s waiting for you all in Hell. He’s saved you a seat.

Rant is now over. I’ve turned OFF comments as this is a commentary from me, and is not open for discussion.
