Decreasing Returns

Or should I say “decreasing me.”

I got a bit of a head start on this behavior modification from when I said I was going to, and while I know it’s mostly water weight (at my size, I don’t think that’s too hard to believe) but, I’m pleased to say I’m down 19 pounds. Another 70 to go.

I’ve set my sights on having it done by my birthday in May.

Next Year.

That gives me 14 months (60 weeks) in order to lose the remaining 70 pounds. That’s a little more (barely) than a pound a week. I think it’s doable.

Any advice from those who have lost the weight and kept it off? I’m already eating healthier, smaller meals more frequently. I’ve almost abolished High Fructose Corn Syrup from my life. I’ve limited coffee to 1 20 ounce cup a day (sorry, can’t cut it out entirely – I’ve tried). I’m eating more veggies. Getting up and moving more. Doing some power walking. Drinking more water.

Good for you. I started my diet in August 2004 and I’ve lost 70 pounds.

I still have not reached my goal. The last 10 to 15 pounds are seemingly impossible to lose. I think I’ll have better results when the weather turns warm and I can run after work. Now it is dark by 7 p.m. and I just want to sleep.

I keep yo-yo’ing up and down 5 to 7 pounds. But, I’m pretty pleased that I’ve haven’t gained back too very much.

Smaller portions, more veggies, exercise — that’s really all there is to it. I haven’t gone back to eating junk food either. No chips, candy, ice cream (which I really miss), or cakes.

I have also cut out white flour and sugar from my diet.

I can’t give up cheese or red meat — life just wouldn’t be worth living. 😉
