Weekend Wrapup

Posted in Here at 8:53 pm by Think-Tink

Awash in a sea of yarn…hopefully everything will turn out decently.

Chocolate ice cream, Hershey’s strawberry sauce, chocolate chips and cool whip make an awesome sundae.

There is just something about stuff cooked on a grill. A grill pan or electric grill thing cant compare.

Why are we surprised when it only takes 3 hours in an emergency room? If the person is that bad off, shouldn’t it be quicker?

Why does going to Elizabeth City always seem longer than coming back?

New sheets are a good thing.

How does someone burn out part of the heat sensors on their tongue?

My bedroom floor is scary. Especially now that I can see more of it.

What on should I pack for my trip to Revog’s? Hmmm.

Come on payday!

Starting projects

Posted in Crafts at 10:19 am by Think-Tink

I have decided that today I am going to start a crochet afghan, knitted afghan and a scarf with a hood built in. I figure if I have 3 things to go between, I wont get bored with any of them.

I choose a yarn that seemed difficult for me to knit with the crochet. I won the yarn. So this afghan wont cost me anything except time. I will get a reward of giving it to the project I talked about yesterday.

I am knitting with solid colors as this will be the first thing I am doing in knit other than a scarf.

I am knitting something that should be exactly what I have been looking for, a hood with a scarf as all in one. I am going to make one in a darker electric blue and then another in 2 colors of rose.

I will try to post pictures when/if they get done.

EEEEk!

I was taking some yarn to donate to a store that is doing an on-going blanket drive, and came home with more than I took! I was talking to the store owner and she not only pointed out ideas for some of the stuff but gave me more to mix in. This will be a good way for me to get decent at knitting. Hopefully. I have started this first blanket about 10 times now. I think I need to break down and get a set of plastic circular needles. It is just not working for me to try to put so many stitches on my straight needles. I have some metal ones, but I can’t take those on the plane.

If you crochet or knit, this is a really interesting idea that Coordinated Colors Yarn Shoppe has. There are the Project Linuses out there (blankets for kids with cancer) but this lady wants to donate blankets for kids of all ages that are displaced. Like had to go to a women’s shelter or something so that tweens, teens, and parents have something to cuddle up with of their own. That stays with them. I think it is a good endeavor. Hopefully I can make things worthy of the project.

I have having my last snack of the day in bed… That was a big no-no when we were little. Bedrooms were for sleeping and dressing.

Weekend Wrapup

Sorry for not posting this yesterday, but when we got home last night, I was too tired to even think.

Buffetts are better when there are lots of people around to keep the food fresh.

They should have had more chocolate desserts too.

Why do men think they get input in what a woman wears for “intimates”? I saw 2 giving their opinion yesterday.

Some people dont take direction well. Especially when they are assigned one area and decide to be in another.

Farm Fresh needed to have a little bit better food choices at the Wine Festival.

DG’s dance team Showcase was good but you could definitely tell who the favorites were.

DG is looking so grown up all of the sudden. So is Crash.

How do parents afford all of those costumes?

When did Wal-Mart start getting rid of their snack bars? I really wanted a pretzel yesterday or french fries.

Traffic wasn’t too bad at the beach on either day.

Things happen for a reason. Good thing I got a new phone Computer Scout needed my old one as his died.

I don’t like sitting at the front desk at work. Phone is set up for a right hander.

My shoulder doesn’t hurt as much but still hurts.

I think I can make it until the 3 day weekend. I hope I dont have to get up at any specific time any of the days.

No pain no gain?

Posted in Here at 9:31 pm by Think-Tink

I am not the most coordinated of people. I multi-task ok but it is not something I try to do because it seems that nothing gets done well. Well I was at SB’s parent’s house on the tread mill tonight. I was walking with weights and apparently slowed down. The treadmill didnt. I went butt over teacups and was stopped by a computer desk. I now have a huge bruise on my leg and my other shoulder hurts. I hope advil helps. I wont be doing that machine again in the near future.

Questions arise from the weirdest things

Posted in Here at 10:16 pm by Think-Tink

Jerry Falwell passed away yesterday. I am sorry to hear it for his family. I am not sorry that someone trying to force his views on me is gone. I have been thinking of questions related to this all day though.

The biggest is that as far right as Mr. Falwell was, it wasn’t right enough for some people. I guess even in black and white there are still infinite shades of gray. My question about this is why is some crazy man going to be protesting at the funeral? Can’t anyone just pass in peace anymore? Do we really need protesters, or being shot to the moon or made into a diamond announced?

As a University employee, my next question is what happens at Liberty Univ.? I am sure it will continue, but will some of it’s rules be relaxed? Where will it’s uinding come from now that Mr. Falwell is dead?

Does this mean we get to hear more from Pat Robertson now?

I know in alot of the country Mr. Falwell’s passing doesn’t mean alot, but here in VA, it could have alot of affect.

Believe me, I was not a fan of Mr. Falwell’s, quite the opposite.

I guess this goes along with something else that hit me while in the used book store Monday. I am very interested in books that question Christianity or are paranormal. I am not sure what the connection is yet. It could be just that religion and the paranormal are a matter of perception. They are all what you want to make them.

Tuesday Ten is back!

Posted in Uncategorized at 8:12 pm by Think-Tink

The Tuesday Ten is back on SilverBlue’s website.

1. Do you feel guilty using your sick days (calling in sick) when you really ARE too sick to work?

Somewhat, but I realize that I would do more harm than good at work. SB is sometimes the person who takes one look and says go back to bed.

2. What makes you feel better when you’re ill?

B to the third power—Bear, Blanket, and Book

3. Consider it’s the flu. What medicine helps knock it out of you fastest?

Alka Seltzer Plus Cold

4. Is there a particular food that makes you feel better when you’re sick?

Ginger Ale, breads

5. When you’re ill, do you want someone to take care of you, or to be left alone?

Leave me alone. No touch, nothing. Sometimes the sound of a voice is too much.

6. How long does an illness normally last, once you really get sick?

A few days, but the last time I had the Flu it lasted almost a week.

7. How long before you decide you need medical intervention?

Usually a week

8. Chicken Soup or Saltine Crackers?

Crackers.

9. Do you normally go back to work before you’re totally well, simply because you’d be so behind otherwise?

Yes.

10. Ask me something.

Why is THE Bunny such a pain when we are sick? Bossy little thing.

Weekend Wrapup

Posted in Here at 9:32 pm by Think-Tink

Strawberries are majorly on my mind…chocolate and tart and sweet and creamy.

Cleaning is like giving your self a fresh start. You can get rid of things you no longer need and things you thought that you should do for other people who are no longer in your life.

I had some foods I wanted today, that had alot of fat. I found that they didnt quite taste the same. I still wanted my salad along with them. I still ate 5 meals today.

I forgot to cut my fingernails today.

Sunday evening TV is awful.

Any ideas for chicken?

The strawberries would be better if Celtic Mama were here to eat them with me.

Weird dreams last night…

Max and Erma’s needs more salad greens in it’s Shrimp Salad Stack.

Loading programs on a new to me computer is time consuming.

I wonder where I can find on a regular Basis Just Chex cheese. It is a good BFL alternative to my cheesy popcorn.

It got cold today!

The roses are doing amazing right now. I was afraid the snow in April had hurt them.

Basically 2 weeks until vacation with Revog. I should start my piles of stuff to remember now.

Strawberry season

I had an awesome time on Saturday picking strawberries with Bridges and her family. Her husband’s family owns a pick your own farm. She told me the type we picked, but whatever they are they are awesome!! I dipped some in chocolate today and then put cool whip on top. Talk about good! I think I might be going back up to get more.
