March has flown by

Posted in Uncategorized at 7:42 am by Think-Tink

Wow! Where did March go? OK, Basketball took a good portion of it, but the rest blinked by when I wasn’t looking. I have gifts to finish, get in the mail and all types of other things to do. EEk!

Word to the wise…

Posted in Uncategorized at 6:17 pm by Think-Tink

Do not let a woman who is hungry AND PMSing into a grocery store having a huge sale on ice cream alone. There will be no willpower. I only bought 3 different types…

Weekend Wrap-up

Posted in Uncategorized at 10:31 pm by Think-Tink

Sometimes it is good just to sit home and do nothing really important for a day.

Shopping by yourself is alot different than shopping with others. There is no one to talk you into or out of stuff.

How do I accumulate so much launndry or is it just that long in between me doing it?

Ahh Spring, Beatiful azaleas, everything becoming green again…my eyes red and teary and a constant need for tissues. What fun.

Finally found a shirt for my jacket for the student dinner.

I hate matching socks up.

I can not wait for warm weather so I don’t have to wear socks.

Trader Joes is becoming more and more a favorite store. Baby Bella mushrooms are awesome.

2 websites that make me wonder what this world is coming to

Posted in Interesting Websites at 9:08 pm by Think-Tink

The first is this: website . This article is about a new dating website that you have to be one of the beautiful people to join. It sounds alot to me like the “in” clique in high school. You aren’t whatever so you can’t be one of us. Quite honestly, I am glad I am probably not an 8 (on their subjective scale, others get to vote on you). People who are that concerned with looks are very superficial and do not care about what is on the inside. For me, it is the insides that make someone attractive.

The second is this blog post (second one down called Stalled and Steamed). Basically, someone wrote to the letters to the editors about how handicapped stalls in bathrooms should be left open unless there is a handicapped person in it. I take alot of issue with this. First off, if there is a line, why shouldn’t the handicapped stall be used? I know the architect and builders counted in the count of how many they had to have in the building. From there, if you have alot of bags and such, the only stall you fit in is the handicapped stall. No one I know would leave bags out of their space to get stolen. Then the last and biggest thing. I have been around alot of strollers. Tell me which stall a strolled will fit in…or better if the kids are walking would you want them in a different place than you if they were still very young?

What do you think about these articles?

Weekend Wrap-up

NCAA edition

Why is Basketball better in person? Is that because you can look where you want to, no where the camera decides to go?

I am not sure who I am going to root for now that most of my teams are out of the mens tournament.

I hope JMU’s women lose tonight. I know it would be a bad showing for all of the CAA teams to lose first round but we will never hear the end of it if JMU wins and the other 2 didn’t.

After watching basically 3 days of basketball, the men’s game seems to be evolving into something different than the women’s game. Is it the dunk or what?

Bars are ok, but I now remember why I don’t go to them. As I get older, the loud music really bothers me. I think it is loud sounds in general.

There weren’t alot of people in the bar but it was still really smoky. Ick. Wonder if the servers there ever get the smell out?

It is 9:45. One housemate went to sleep about 9, and one has been asleep since 6.

Found another make to try Purminerals. Pressed mineral powders. Anyone tried it? I am going to wait a little while first. Look it up online and such.

Should there be something like a 10 run rule from baseball for basketball? IN the women’s tournament we have had some 40-60 wins. I can understand playing full out but after 30 points it is pretty darn obvious as to who will win.

Duke women showed alot of class letting the player from Drake hit her 1000th point, considering it was her last game since she was a senior.

It’s Spring (officially on Wednesday)! Know how I can tell? In all the rain on Friday, there were pretty streaks of yellow flowing down into the drains with the rain. Ahhh, pollen.

Keep Bone Collector in your thoughts. She lost an aunt today.

If you are in an area that has Farm Fresh grocery stores, they have 3lb bags of boneless chicken breasts for $3. That is an awesome deal.

OK, after listening to one housemate snore for quite a while, I think I am going to go do the same and go to sleep so I start snoring.

Duke got beaten!!!

Posted in Sports at 10:01 pm by Think-Tink

Duke men just lost to VCU! Another CAA team! Do we have the George Mason of the year in VCU?

I have never been a Duke fan but it was cemented when I was a college student. My team’s women were playing theirs. We had more people there (at Duke) until someone started calling student to come over. They were rude and obnoxious. Don’t tell me well it’s ACC etc. I grew up near Charlottesville, another ACC school. I don’t remember their students being like that. We were quite afraid when leaving that game that something was going to happen to the car (the car had a sticker and a parking tag) or to us.

Goodness, I can’t believe I am saying this but GO VCU!!

The dish fairy called…she’s on vacation

Posted in Here at 9:59 am by Think-Tink

One of my housemates, just so I am not saying who, let’s call him Dork, has this bad habit, he puts things in the sink and like magic expects them to get washed all by themselves (there is not dish washer here except the 3 of us). Well Dork is sick yet again, and was home early to take a nap before choir practice. He apparently had soup and peanut butter because the sink was full of the dishes. Now, when I was sick, I still took out the trash most of the time and did some of the dishes (SB was nice enough to me help out). I do not know where Dork gets off thinking that he doesn’t have to. Oh and better yet, he made a comment about how no one puts dishes away around here. EXCUSE ME! He needs to look at himself as the stuff he used over the weekend for someone’s party were still in the sink until *I* put it away.

Hurry Hurry Rush rush

Posted in Uncategorized at 9:45 pm by Think-Tink

I used to have a flag captain in high school band (yes, I played a flag for a whole year) that would say that all the time when she wanted us to hurry up. Usually it was to hurry somewhere and wait while the rest of the band or whoever got their stuff together.

I am having a week like this. Everything has to be done right now. And then I wait for other people to do their part. Or better yet, I do my part and supposedly someone else does their part but somehow it became twisted so now it has to be fixed.

2 glasses of wine tonight took it all away…almost like Calgone :)

Becoming jaded

Posted in Uncategorized at 9:38 pm by Think-Tink

I had a thought hit me today that I have become very jaded, especially at work. I have probably heard every excuse there is as to why someone wants to submit an application etc late. It normally has to be a very good reason or someone in the military for me to bend the deadlines for. I think it is because we hear it too many times of please let me do this late and their credentails suck. It takes alot more work on my part than people realize to get them through at the last minute or later.

The other part of this thought was that sympathy and empathy are 2 very different things. Sympathy means feeling bad for the person and empathy is relating to their feelings but being able to keep separate enough that you are able to make rational decisions, even if it is not the one the person wants.

I didn’t have much of either today as I got a heck of a file folder cut on the top of my thumb. It hurt!

Yay! Part 2

The women are a 7 seed. 3 CAA women’s teams made it to the big dance. I think that is the most ever.
