Alot going on this week. Biggest news I got a raise at work. Enough so that I will stick around CHK for a while. This was tempered by the news that Silverblue didn’t get anything except a “we haven’t gotten to your group of job positions”. I really wish there were someway to go make someone take action. The people who need to be fighting for him are just letting the boat float along the current rather than using an oar to steer it where they want it to go.
More happened today…one of my best friends from high school told me she had a miscarrage in May. It would have been her third child. She is doing ok physically, but mentally is another story. We have all these babies getting pregnant through ignorance, and here is someone who wants a child, is in a stable loving marriage and good job, and she has a miscarrage. I hope her week at the beach helps to cheer her up some. I am hoping to take a day off next week and go see her.
Mr. Roboto, SB and I are getting to meet Revog in DC on Saturday which will be alot of fun. Not sure how everything is going to fall out about who is driving what and with whom, but it shouldnt be that difficult.
This week has been one that makes me want to say stop the world I want to get off. REally good in some ways and really bad in some.

I don’t know what it is lately. I have devloped a fondness for orange things. Orange carival glass, orange roses, orange shirts. Until recently orange didn’t look good on me as a color. I really don’t know what has changed. Who knows, at this rate, I might start liking red roses and diamonds. We’ll see.
There are alot of Supreme Court rulings coming out at the moment. I haven’t had time to read them fully but I don’t understand where they are coming from on some of these decisions.
There have been 2 shark attacks in Florida in 3 days I think it is. That is more than some places get in entire year.

One of my favorite flowers is in bloom this Summer finally and the colors are magnificent. Gladiolas are the flowers that have several flowers on one stem. The oranges, reds and fuschia have been amazing on the ones I have seen so far.
Also, I am happy to say that one of my other favorite flowers, roses, are doing really well in our front yard.

SB tagged me to do a meme. 4 things I miss from childhood.
I miss:
Peach jelly that was homemade including the peaches from the back yard. For the longest time, I would only eat this on sandwiches. No grape jelly for this girl. Ok, it was probably more preserves, but we called it jelly.
Family–My dad’s family basically all lived within a 30 mile radius of each other. We would have picnics in the back yard, cousins and aunt and uncles and it would be a great time. We would make ice cream in a hand cranked ice cream maker (peach ice cream with peaches from the tree was the BEST!) and it was better than anything I have had since. The family really only gets together on Christmas Eve now, and then that isn’t everyone, especially now that the family has grown so much.
My grandmothers. Both have died in the past 10 years. My paternal grandmother was a cook at the local elementary school and she would sneak me the rolls they made. Granny was also a naturalist. She could look at a plant and tell you what it was. Her yard had cherry trees (they were almost as good in ice cream as the peaches), grape vines and lots of interesting stuff in bloom. Granny died in 2001 from complications of Alzheimers. My maternal grandmother came to live with Gym Mom, Celtic Mama and me when I was about 9 0r 10. We all took some adjusting, but we got along. Grandma and I talked about everything. I wish in alot of ways I had paid more attention to what she was saying. I loved hearing about the hotels she was a waitress at and what famous people were lousy tippers and who was good. I also wished I had paid more attention to her making spaghetti sauce, as the recipe we have written down doesn’t cover alot of the instructions. Grandma died in 1994 of a lung cancer that spread. I miss them both very much.
Girl Scouts– they opened up a new world to me. OK, so I don’t like camping BUT I got to travel to places I wouldn’t have other wise, meet people I wouldn’t have otherwise and learned about things that seemed far away from my small town. I also got to start to learn to be a leader.
The last thing I miss is the innocence of the world back then. Granny would leave her door unlocked all the time and not think a thing about it. I could just walk right in and start walking around the house to find whoever was there. I could walk by myself down a street without worrying about someone kidnapping me. My friends and I played outside all day long in the summer, and as long as Celtic Mama had an idea of where we were, it was ok. If I got hurt or needed help, I could go to someone’s house and ask, and not worry about them being an axe murderer.
OK, this is 5 rather than 4. So I can’t count…

Shewwww, after my week this week, a nice lazy day is just what is needed. It was busier at work than I anticipated and also this week at night seemed busier also.
I am going to watch Gym Rat and Crash in a dance recital tonight. Should be entertaining as they get all these 3-4 year olds up there in expensive costumes to stare at all the people in the audience. I am taking a camera that hopefully has a good enough telefoto lense that I can get some pictures of everyone on stage.

I went out with Mr. Roboto again last night. He met Silverblue and PoloRandy, as he picked me up here. We went to a baseball game at Harbor Park. Really nice stadium and comfy seats. We ate dinner in the restaurant there and it was really good. We have the same tastes out of the food that was there last night. We watched the game and then afterward, we talked and rode around Newport News for 2 hours. I did not realize how big the city was. I really, really, enjoyed myself. We have talked about next weekend already but not when or where. I will have to make sure with Gym Mom about something before I can commit to a day. Cross your fingers for me, this one seems sane so far…

Shhhh, I have fallen into the reality tv trap. I started watching Dancing with the Stars last night and couldn’t stop. Poor Silverblue even left his room because I had some stuff to do up here and had his tv on that channel. I was fascinated that some of these stars would go through that much work for a contest. 6 weeks to begin with and then 5 weeks of shows and being judged. I think I am more fascinated by the ballroom dancing than anything else. So many little details, but I guess that is like some other sports, like figure skating and dancing and gymnastics. It was also kind of nice to see these stars be grumpy and achy and such just like us.
Today the trap continued as I even thought I should vote for one of the couples I saw. I really don’t understand the judging but what I liked, they definitely didn’t like. Guess it is the same thing as movie critics, what they like, I usually don’t.

My alma mater, Old Dominion University, is finally getting football again! The last time ODU had football was before WW 2. This makes me intensly happy as there was a push for it when I was there as a student. If this article is true, we could see football in a relatively short time period. It sounds like everything has been well thought out. I like that the games will be free to students as all other sporting events are.
ODU Alums are in for an interesting few years.

I saw this tonight at Wal-Mart. Bought one to try and while it wasn’t bad, it just didnt have any chocolate taste to me. It was more tart like a raspberry something. There was a choice of raspberry chocolate, but I didn’t get that one. I think I will stick with my vanillas, key limes and such.
