The musings of one called “Tink”
For the past couple of nights, I have felt that losing the voice feeling coming back. Since the things that work the best knock me out for a full day at a time, I took a shot of Wild Turkey with honey last night. That stuff really worked! It cleared out the gunk at the back of my throat and was a very smooth drink. I am definitely going to have to keep it in mind.
I have some questions in general about the prospective and students I work with.
I truly do wonder how some of them got through an undergraduate degree and hold down jobs. I hope that these people don’t expect to get their hand held as much in the real world as we do at CHK.
Why do people wait until the last minute to turn in a simple form that takes 5 minutes to fill out? When did we become a country of last minute is the right time to do something? Is it that alot of people need to feel the pressure of a deadline? It makes my job harder when everyone waits.
Why don’t people read signs? The one in my front office says see me in my office number for assistance. I have to get up and get these people when I hear the door open. It’s not like the sign is in a place it can be missed or that the hallway is hidden by a door or anything. Along with this, when someone yells out hello, why do some people not answer?
When someone hears I might be looking into other jobs, why do they say you can’t leave but then don’t send an atta girl to my boss?
I found 3 really good things today as SB and I were thrift storing. $2 for an LL Bean dress and a purse and wallet for $2.55. The wallet almost works for what I need but but not quite. It needs to be about a quarter of an inch smaller than it is.
PR, Sb and I were supposed to go to Williamsburg today, but I thin that is now on Monday. Should be fun unless they wake me up too early.
I do have an issue with something I saw today. I buy alot of things at the thrift stores. I fully and freely admit it. I draw the line at something I saw today. The lady in front of me at one of the stores was buying thongs. Yes, I said THONGS. I don’t buy used intimates, just have a big problem with that. Silverblue mentions it at his blog too. I would do a linky thing but I haven’t figured out how all that works on the wordpress stuff yet.
Poor PoloRandy. Please keep him in your thoughts. He is at the Emergency Room right now hoping that something can be done about what they think are kidney stones. He went this morning, got valium and was told to try and pass it. The Valium didn’t even touch the pain. So he is at the ER and hopefully they will be able to figure out the problem and a solution for it. Please keep him in our thoughts. SilverBlue is with him for some comfort right now.

Really, I am! I have spent the beginning of the week watching Gym Rat and Crash. Piper Boy was around but I was there to give him a break. It was really nice being with the girls again. I didn’t realize how much I had missed them and how much more they have grown up.
Gym Rat, I think, is taking after her Aunt Tink in that the weather changes play havoc with her system. She was home Monday afternoon and Tuesday. Sudafed is a wondrous thing. We have gone from temps in the 70′s to 50′s and apparently going back up tomorrow. It is very hard to tell a 9 year old whose Mommy is away to suck it up, especially if you don’t know if they are faking or not.
There is alot to write about… and I guess I made Harley Man mad… his loss.
Harley Man and I went out again tonight. Had a really good dinner at a local seafood restaurant. I cut the evening short as I might have to help with the yard sale tomorrow and get up really early. I did go to his house for a few minutes, though, we were going to see National Treasure at his house. Nice single man house. No decorating so to speak, 2 cats and a big dog who would love to be a lap dog. He is concerned about his weight as he has turned in his gargage into a weight room.
We talked about some interesting stuff but nothing deep. Guess next time is time enough for that.
I had something happen today that took me back to childhood and getting ready for school. As you may know, I am from a small town in Central Virginia. There is one radio station for the area and it’s signal tower happened to be at a 45 degree angle to our house. The signal came through the tv, we were one of the first to get cable in the area because of it. After Star Wars came out with it’s accompanying theme song, this station played the song every morning at about the same time. The station did it for so long that I knew if I wasn’t doing something like eating breakfast or getting ready for the bus I would be late.
I think the radio station is either all talk or a country station now. I am really happy to have my cd’s for being in that area.
Today was one of those days that even though it is pretty normal just wears you out. That was my day. Nothing really stressful but just tired.
I am going again with Harley Dude on Friday. Don’t know what we are doing yet.
